Over a century ago, anyone could practice engineering whether or not they had the appropriate expertise. On August 8, 1907, the first engineer was licensed in order to protect public health, safety and welfare!

Our engineers contribute to almost everything you see outside - roadways, bridges, traffic signals, traffic signs, curbs, sidewalks, crossings, trails, retaining walls, railroads, airports, ports, buildings, parking lots, ponds, catch basins, housing developments…nearly every piece of infrastructure in society is the result of civil engineering.

DGL’s engineers recognize and truly appreciate the responsibility that comes with a professional license. They dedicate their “professional knowledge and skill to the advancement and betterment of human welfare”, which is the Engineers’ Creed. They humbly pledge:
