This past week, DGL’s Nick Lake returned as a guest speaker for UT's Bridge Design class. This is Nick’s 2nd year as part of this enrichment program.  In this program, students "inspected" and completed a bridge inspection report for the Secor Road Bridge over the Ottawa River. Nick compiled their data and then discussed what the students saw vs. what he had observed. This opened a dialogue about the importance and process of annual inspections. The students also gained perspective about how much the implementation of technology over the past 3 years has greatly increased the efficiency and productivity of inspections. Nick truly enjoys volunteering his time and knowledge with today’s students, tomorrow’s engineers.
