DGL worked with the Toledo Zoo and a sewer cleaning company to improve the drainage conditions in and around the former Elephant House now known as the Lodge. During rainfall events, water backed up into the basement of the Lodge. After reviewing the record drawings of the area, the sewer company was called in to clean the storm drainage pipes, and assist with locating the structures. Video equipment was also utilized to determine the existing condition of the pipes. The field investigation involved access and visual inspection of the drainage structures within the Cheetah Valley exhibit where it was determined that the drainage combined with larger pipes which led to the Maumee River.
