Metroparks Toledo secured funding through the “2018 Scrap Tire Grant” for this project. DGL provided the resurfacing plans utilizing an asphalt specification with ground tire rubber, a process that incorporates recycled truck tires into the asphalt binder. This was a unique opportunity to assist Metroparks with the resurfacing and maintenance of over 6,000 feet of the main access drive through Pearson Park, one of the last remaining stands of the Great Black Swamp in the Toledo area. Additionally, utilizing this green approach makes a positive impact on the environment by reducing the amount of non-biodegradable materials.
