The Manhattan Marsh Park Development project is a 73-acre expansive marshland ecosystem located in Toledo, Ohio. One of Toledo Metroparks’ highest organizational goals was to provide a natural based Metropark within 5 miles of every resident in Lucas County, the development of this land into a park was the final piece in achieving this goal. The physical improvements included: 1.75-miles of aggregate multi-use path, 1,630-feet of timber boardwalk through the marsh with four overlook structures, restroom facilities and a parking area with interpretative signage. The Manhattan Marsh Metropark will enable walking, jogging, running, canoeing, kayaking and bird/wildlife watching. The unique marsh setting will also allow students from the adjacent Chase STEMM Academy and other Toledo area students to use the Metropark as an outdoor learning lab.
