The Oak Openings Corridor Trail - Phase 1 project consisted of the detailed design of 1.8 miles of multi-use trail connecting Wiregrass Lake to the existing trail system of Secor Metropark. Phase 2 of the project consisted of 0.75 miles of trail connecting Wiregrass Lake to Angola Road in Toledo, Ohio. Due to environmental requirements of the area, Phases 1 and 2 also included a combined 1,000-feet of precast concrete boardwalk system installed on helical piers through multiple wetland areas. The Oak Openings Corridor Trail is extremely important to Metropark Toledo, as well as the region itself. The corridor will be the cornerstone of trail connectivity in Lucas County providing the ultimate connection between the Wabash-Cannonball Trail and the University Parks Trail, the regions longest and most used trail respectively.
