Safe Harbor Development contacted DGL to assist in the redevelopment of the Snug Harbor RV Park. The 7-acre site is located in Danbury Township of Ottawa County. The planned Residential/Marina Community consists of 18 home sites, 10 RV parking spots, a club house, and 40 water slips. The RV parking and the clubhouse are designed to be available for rent for private events and gatherings and as vacation options.  DGL’s scope of work included a boundary survey to determine the project limits; topographic survey to provide existing site information for design; site design for the home sites, club house building, pool, a storage building, drives, parking lot and associated utilities; and construction staking. This work also involved submittals to FEMA to remove the clubhouse and some of the residential lots from the floodplain of Lake Erie.

The site was originally platted as an RV park, so the lots were designed to remain per the original plat.  The commercially zoned portion of the site was designed for the RV parking and common amenities which are available to the residents of the residential lots.  The design of the site involved analysis and ultimate replacement of the existing utility infrastructure to serve the redesigned site.  Underground detention was utilized in two locations due to the flood elevations of Lake Erie and the usable area of the site.

The residential street and the commercial street come together near the marina to resemble a hybrid of a roundabout and cul-de-sac.  This feature contains a water fountain feature in the middle of the roundabout and branches off to form a portion of the boat ramp and the path to the primary docks of the marina.  The boat docks were also replaced with new floating docks to serve the clubhouse, the residential residents, and water traveling visitors to the development.
