Civil Engineer - Development
Position Information
DGL is looking for a Civil Engineer to enhance the capabilities and qualifications of our Development – Civil/Structural Department. As a multi-disciplinary engineering firm, success in this position will require an individual to use prescribed methods, standard techniques and practices to perform various engineering assignments. Our goal is to provide an environment for engineering professionals to learn, grow and master necessary skills to succeed in a fast-paced and challenging environment. The individual will be a self-starter who can work independently while following standard processes and procedures to design and deliver a variety of infrastructure projects.
Will work under the supervision of the development department head
4-7 years of previous experience in civil design engineering
Full-time position
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Perform engineering calculations and reports
Perform technical engineering work associated with land development and/or water resources: Stormwater Management Design, Site Grading, Erosion and Sediment Control Design
Complete various land development and environmental permitting applications
Perform engineering calculations and prepare plans/specifications in accordance with project requirements for agency/municipal review
Attend meetings with municipal officials, engineers, developers, and contractors
Develop details specific to project proposals for civil work including determining scope and fee
Contributes to the daily management of projects
Keeps direct supervisor promptly informed of key/significant issues or concerns
Communicate with clients and team leaders for understanding of project scope and coordinate with engineers and architect on project requirements
Supervise and mentor designers for drawing and report production
Prepare drawings and specifications in accordance with project requirements
Provide quality control and design checking of project drawings and specifications
Review shop drawings, RFIs and respond to other construction questions
Skill Set
Ability to read and understand blueprints and contract specifications
Experience in stormwater management design, site grading, erosion and sediment control design and building code permitting processes
Proficiency with computer-based design tools (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, GIS, REVIT) & familiarity with HydroCAD or other stormwater modeling software
Exceptional written and oral communication skills
Ability to work and balance priorities amongst multiple projects
Outgoing, self-motivated team player
Proven success in delivering high quality project submittals
Professional demeanor
Some tasks may require travel to complete. Time and mileage reimbursed based on current standard rates.
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from ABET Accredited Institution
Engineering Intern (E.I.) Certification in Ohio with the ability to obtain PE license within 6 months; Registered Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of Ohio preferred
Valid Driver’s License or State ID required
