Civil Engineer - Development Senior
Position Information
DGL is looking for an experienced Civil Engineer to enhance the capabilities and qualifications of our Development – Civil/Structural Department. As a multi-disciplinary engineering firm, success in this position will require an individual to use prescribed methods, standard techniques and practices to perform various engineering assignments. Our goal is to provide an environment for engineering professionals to learn, grow and master necessary skills to succeed in a fast-paced and challenging environment. The individual will be a self-starter who can work independently while following standard processes and procedures to design and deliver a variety of infrastructure projects.
Will work under the supervision of the development department head
8-15 years of previous experience in civil design engineering
Full-time position
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Act as Project Manager and/or lead design engineer on projects
Must be able to deliver multiple tasks for various engineering leads while meeting deadlines and adhering to budgetary constraints
Preparation of construction plans, design detailing, cost estimates, drainage calculations and reports
Assist with the oversight of entry level engineers and budgeting of work tasks
Involvement in client meetings, responses to RFI’s and assisting in proposal preparation
Tracks the progress of deliverables, client reviews, technical input, and comment resolution
Keeps direct supervisor promptly informed of key/significant issues or concerns
Communicate with leaders for understanding of project scope and coordinate with engineers on project requirements
Coordinate with other engineers, surveyors and architects on project requirements
Supervise and mentor designers for drawing and report production
Provide quality control and design checking of project drawings and specifications
Review shop drawings, RFIs and respond to other construction questions
Responsible for maintaining excellent job performance
Skill Set
Experience in design of commercial, institutional, industrial and/or residential projects
Proficiency in site layout, utilities, grading, drainage and erosion control
Recent experience with interpreting planning and zoning code requirements
Proficiency in AutoCAD required; Civil 3D experience preferred
Knowledge of engineering design tools and software
Exceptional written and oral communication skills
Ability to work and balance priorities amongst multiple projects
Outgoing, self-motivated team player
Proven success in delivering high quality project submittals
Professional demeanor
Overtime hours may also be requested, dependent on project workloads and submittal deadlines
Some tasks may require travel to complete. Time and mileage reimbursed based on current standard rates.
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from ABET Accredited Institution
Registered Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of Ohio preferred or Engineering Intern (E.I.) Certification in Ohio with the ability to obtain PE license within 6 months
Valid Driver’s License or State ID required
