Senior CAD Technician - Transportation
Position Information
Assist Project Managers by using a general understanding of engineering procedures and terminology as well as software applications necessary for the planning, implementation, correction and quality review of engineering tasks. Able to prepare base and detailed drawings independently, in accordance with project requirements with an overall knowledge of civil engineering standards and applications.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Prepares drawings, sketches, and calculations including Plan & Profile Sheets, Intersection, Drive and Pavement Details. Prepare base and detailed drawings in accordance with project requirements.
Maintain requirements of ODOT, OTIC, local County and City CAD Standards, Standard Drawings and Location and Design Manuals.
Keeps direct supervisor informed of key/significant issues or concerns promptly to maintain project schedules and deadlines.
Update job knowledge continuously regarding planning, community design and sustainability issues, ideas and methods as well as engagement tools and strategies, and is knowledgeable in current trends, practices, technology, and information affecting the planning profession.
Provide technical support to engineering, communications, and business management teams.
Communicate with project leaders for a thorough understanding of project scope.
Communicate with leaders to understand project scope and coordinate with engineers on project requirements
Carries out duties and responsibilities in a safe and efficient manner to maintain safe work environment and surrounding area for oneself, co-workers and public and abide local, company and client safety requirements. Responds to hazardous situations and/or potentially unsafe conditions by taking corrective action as capable and promptly notifying supervisory personnel.
Provide drafting support to other departments (civil & survey) as necessary
Skill Set
Proficient with applicable computer software (Open Roads Designer, AutoCAD Civil 3D, Microsoft Office, Bluebeam)
Design and plan preparation experience based on ODOT and other municipality’s specifications and preferred standards
Ability to communicate effectively; speak and write clearly, concisely and persuasively using correct grammar, spelling and punctuation
Ability to work independently and cooperatively while balancing priorities amongst multiple projects
Outgoing, self-motivated team player
Proven success in delivering high quality project submittals
Professional demeanor
Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with employees, clients, review agencies, stakeholders and the general public.
Overtime hours may also be requested dependent on project workloads and submittal deadlines
Valid Driver’s License required with a favorable driving record
Education
Associate Degree in Engineering Technology preferred, or equivalent training with relevant industry experience
