Senior Survey Technician - Crew Chief
Position Information
DGL is seeking individuals that can apply their land surveying knowledge and procedures to assist in the planning, implementation, correction and quality review of the assigned survey tasks. Ability to use AutoCAD and / or MicroStation to process, complete and review the final deliverables for topographic, boundary and route surveys along with other assigned tasks by their supervisor.

5 years of previous experience in field surveying required
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Performs boundary surveys, topographic surveys and construction layout independently and as part of a crew.
Completes research of land records, deeds, subdivision maps, easements, etc. independently
Prepares and/or reviews field files as downloaded; learn to process survey data, import data into MicroStation and AutoCAD.
Prepares calculations, record keeping, drawings and sketches.
Assists with base and detailed drawings in accordance with project requirements.
Keeps direct supervisor promptly informed of key/significant issues or concerns.
Communicates with leaders for understanding of project scope and coordinate with engineers and surveyors on project requirements
Maintains requirements of ODOT, OTIC, local County and City CAD Standards, Standard Drawings and Location and Design Manuals
Completes other survey tasks and performs related duties as assigned
Carries out duties and responsibilities in a safe and efficient manner to maintain safe work environment and surrounding area for oneself, co-workers and public and abide local, company and client safety requirements. Responds to hazardous situations and/or potentially unsafe conditions by taking corrective action as capable and promptly notifying supervisory personnel.
Skill Set
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and on difficult terrain, including entering wooded areas
Ability to lift/carry 50 pounds and complete daily physical labor
Understanding of Microsoft office suite and experience with MicroStation, AutoCAD, and Civil 3D. Familiarity with Trimble Business Center
Ability to perform work with a high degree of accuracy, organization and within established deadlines
Ability to conduct themselves in a professional manner
Ability to work independently and cooperatively on various sized projects
Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with employees, stakeholders and the general public
Ability to communicate effectively; speak and write clearly, concisely and persuasively using correct grammar, spelling and punctuation
Familiarity with survey field equipment and its standard of care, required
Flexibility to travel, including overnight, as needed
Valid Driver’s License required with a favorable driving record
Education
4-Year Degree from a college or university in land surveying, engineering or engineering technology in progress or applicable land surveying experience
Survey Intern (SI) Certificate preferred or relevant experience
