CAD Technician (1-5 Years)
/Position Information
Assist Senior CAD Technicians by using a general understanding of engineering and land surveying procedures and terminology as well as software applications necessary for the planning, implementation, correction and quality review of engineering and surveying tasks. Able to perform and/or review technical procedures for surveys and site visits with a general knowledge of local municipalities, procedures and processes.
Reports to Senior CAD Technician and Project Managers
Full-time, Non-Exempt
1-5 years of previous experience in CAD data processing preferred
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Assists with drawings, sketches, calculations and record keeping.
Assists in the research of land records, deeds, subdivision maps, easements, etc.
Keeps direct supervisor promptly informed of key/significant issues or concerns.
Complete other field/survey tasks as assigned and performs related duties as necessary.
Update software training and knowledge of all ODOT, OTIC and local municipality standards and details continuously.
Technical support to engineering, communications, and business management teams
Carries out duties and responsibilities in a safe and efficient manner to maintain safe work environment and surrounding area for oneself, co-workers and public and abide local, company and client safety requirements. Responds to hazardous situations and/or potentially unsafe conditions by taking corrective action as capable and promptly notifying supervisory personnel.
Update job knowledge continuously regarding planning, community design and sustainability issues, ideas and methods as well as engagement tools and strategies, and is knowledgeable in current trends, practices, technology, and information affecting the profession.
Skill Set
Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Civil 3D, MicroStation and Bentley Open Roads Designer, as well as Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat or Bluebeam preferred. Ability to lead additional software including Building Information Modeling (BIM) software, such as Revit.
Ability to perform work with a high degree of accuracy, organization and within established deadlines
Willingness to learn new software, technologies and methods for improving efficiencies in assigned tasks
Ability to conduct themselves in a professional manner
Ability to work cooperatively with others on various types and sized projects
Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with employees and clients
Ability to communicate effectively; speak and write clearly, concisely and persuasively using correct grammar, spelling and punctuation
Valid Driver’s License required with a favorable driving record
Education
Degree preferred, or equivalent training
