DGL designed a traffic signal and the roadway widening as a part of the construction of the Blossom Hill Elementary School and Brecksville Recreational Sports Fieldhouse project. The signal was located at Oakes Road and Glenwood Trail. The existing intersection was currently unsignalized with three approaches: Oakes Drive, Glenwood Trail, and School Drive. Widening at the intersection occurred to accommodate turn lanes that were required due to the increase in traffic along Oakes Road. A fourth approach (south) was added for the main school drive as a part of the project. This signal employs emergency vehicle pre-emption and license plate reader technology, along with video monitoring connected to the school resource officer’s equipment.
