DGL was brought on board by Midwest Terminals of Toledo for this condensate transfer project following the successful delivery of the Toledo Ironville project.
This project included multiple phases of industrial site development on a 25-acre site incorporating nearly three miles of track, including spurs and mainline improvements. The natural gas/condensate transfer facility involved the design of a former county-owned property. DGL provided staging, environmental coordination, local and state agency coordination, survey, earthwork, grading, stormwater detention, retaining walls, utilities, access, and traffic flow planning into and around the site. The project involved provisions for heavy rail and truck loadouts. Power supply, fire protection, mainline rail, rail spurs, liquid loading systems, two holding tanks, a Mechanically Stabilized Earth (MSE) wall, oil-water separation, and spill containment areas were all incorporated into the site design. Rigid and flexible pavement designs were developed to accommodate heavy traffic, loading operations, and storage demands. Underground utility layouts to serve the facility with fire protection, power, gas, sanitary sewer, drainage, and communications were designed and coordinated with the design team and contractors. Grading and spill containment measures were critical due to the potential for hazardous materials transfer at the site and the proximity of nearby wetlands. All site features were designed and coordinated to provide operational flexibility for both planned material handling operations and future expansion opportunities.
