DGL performed the onsite inspection and field engineering services required for the Miami Street project. A primary feature of the roadway improvements was the construction of a new cul-de-sac at the Jackson and Miami intersection, along with the introduction of a boulevard-style street section. As an Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) Local Public Agency (LPA) project, the work was required to comply with ODOT specifications to maintain reimbursement eligibility. DGL was responsible for all aspects of construction administration, including completion of EEO documentation and periodic review of certified payrolls on behalf of the City.
Construction activities included resurfacing, streetscape enhancements, lighting, landscaping, sidewalk improvements with ADA-compliant crosswalks, and concrete curb installation. DGL’s services also included resolution of as-built quantities for processing contractor pay requests.
Key factors affecting the project schedule included significant truck traffic at the Miami and Sandusky Street intersection, maintenance of traffic signage to avoid disruption to deliveries within the area, and protection of pedestrians traveling through the construction zone at the Jackson and Miami intersection.
