DGL provided Construction Inspection / Administration services for This ODOT LPA project included 900 feet of full roadway reconstruction and widened sidewalks from the Norfolk Southern Railroad at Third Street to Perry Street. A storm drainage system was installed along both sides of Madison St that drained to a new 12,000gpm pump station located in the center of North Madison Street. The pump station discharged to the Portage River via the existing 30in storm sewer that was lined with a 24in HDPE pipe. The existing combined sewer that ran down the middle of Madison St. was replaced with a new conduit while maintaining existing flows. Decorative street lighting was included with the project along both sides of Madison St. along with HMA stamped crosswalks at all intersections within the project limits. To make the project appear uniform, N. Madison St was completely resurfaced instead of leaving paved trenches where the storm sewer was installed and the parking area along Third St. was resurfaced and the sidewalks were replaced. Pedestrian access to all the buildings had to be constantly maintained. To achieve this, the sidewalks were constructed in phases between the curbs and building faces and businesses were notified of upcoming work. Businesses were continuously updated on the construction schedule and delivery schedules were discussed to minimize disruption. Total construction cost was $2.24 million.
