This ODOT LPA project included 0.60 miles of roadway reconstruction and widening, all new storm sewer, curbs, sidewalks, driveways, decorative street lighting, and fencing. The project was bordered by the Heidelberg University, National Machinery, and CSX Railroad. Access had to be continuous for National Machinery as their delivery dock was accessed off Sarah Street.
The majority of the work was completed during the summer months to reduce the impact to Heidelberg’s parking lots that were within the limits of the proposed work. Coordination with CSX was required due to storm sewer work within the railroad right-of-way. Subgrade issues were discovered during roadway excavation that required stabilization. Two methods of stabilization (undercuts and cement stabilization) were utilized to provide a suitable subgrade for the roadway to be constructed. This project was completed in 2019.
