To create a safer environment for visitors to walk, run, and bike through their local parks, DGL worked with Summit Metro Parks to convert existing loop roads to one-way roads with an adjacent multi-use path at both Silver Creek and Monroe Falls Metro Parks. In particular, the Silver Creek trail crossing to the parking lot was relocated to provide a safer location for pedestrians to access the Pheasant Hill hiking trail.
DGL’s scope of services for both of the paths included completing a field review of the existing conditions and providing assistance with local stakeholders. Following preliminary design, DGL prepared signing and pavement marking plans. Signage plans incorporated both OMUTCD standards and specialty Metro Parks signing. The Metro Parks requested final plans to include resurfacing details for the converted loop roads. DGL also provided bidding assistance to the Metro Parks.
