DGL produced construction plans for a safety enhancement project along U.S. Route 127 at its entrance into Bryan, Ohio. As part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA), the project replaced steep slopes along an existing railroad underpass with tiered landscape wall systems.
Replacing the steep existing slopes of up to 19 feet in height provided a low maintenance underpass approach. The tiered wall systems on each approach corner included three walls, reducing the tunnel effect, and allowing for landscaping between the walls. Over 2,700 total feet of wall was installed in the four quadrants of the underpass. The wall layouts were designed to taper away from the roadway approaching the underpass bridge, with level tops and heights tapering with the roadway grade, all to provide an aesthetically pleasing layout.
DGL coordinated with wall manufacturers to provide the City with a desirable wall product and to ensure a layout design compatible with variable wall designs and manufacturers. Design also included site grading and drainage.
