DGL provided construction phase services for this Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) / Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) funded Local Public Agency (LPA) project (SAN-20-3.00; Construction Phase). The construction plans, prepared by others, included new decorative lighting, electrical circuitry, geometric improvements for parking enhancements, colored stamped concrete, landscaping, ADA-compliant ramps, and other streetscape features throughout the downtown area. DGL provided field inspection, contract administration, and oversight of its subconsultant performing construction materials testing services.
Following plan approval, ODOT authorized the Village to install mast arm signal supports at the intersection of Walnut and Main Streets. Working closely with the electrical subcontractor, DGL coordinated implementation of the additional work item and prepared a signal warrant analysis for ODOT review and approval. Throughout construction, DGL remained proactive in reviewing and addressing discrepancies within the original plan set to protect the Village’s best interests. DGL’s field engineer also meticulously reviewed the contractor’s as-built quantities and, through careful administration of the unit-price contract, helped the Village realize significant cost savings.
