The Arrowhead Office Park was originally constructed without any public sidewalks throughout the development. The lack of sidewalks in the area forced pedestrians into the street, creating safety concerns and highlighting the need for improved pedestrian infrastructure. DGL was hired to perform a topographic survey of the public right-of-way along Indian Wood Circle and Woodlands Drive to identify existing features, both constructed and natural, that could pose potential obstructions to the proposed sidewalks. With the topographic survey and right-of-way established, DGL designed the sidewalk layout to seamlessly connect with sidewalks from recent developments while avoiding existing landscaping and utilities throughout the area. After the City reviewed the drawings with the affected businesses, DGL prepared construction drawings for bidding and construction. In total, approximately two miles of new sidewalk and four crosswalks were installed with minimal disruption to nearby businesses, despite the project’s challenges which included 35 driveways which intersected the proposed sidewalks.
