DGL conducted a safety study for a high-crash segment of Navarre Avenue (SR 2), prepared the funding application, and presented the project to both stakeholders and ODOT. The proposed improvements included median islands, U-turn lanes, upgraded signals, resurfacing, and a service road to serve commercial land uses on the northeast quadrant of Navarre and Wheeling. The $2,400,000 funding request was granted in June 2013, with construction completed in 2017. The City also invested nearly a million dollars in betterments for the corridor. The enhancements include stamped colored crosswalks, stamped and colored medians, lighted bollards, landscaping, irrigation, decorative signal poles, decorative sign posts, and decorative lighting.
