St. Luke’s Hospital’s new Hybrid Operating Room (OR) and Electrophysiology (EP) Lab provided vascular and cardiac patients with a single, convenient location for advanced care. The 15,000-square-foot Hybrid OR and EP Lab building addition to the existing Heart Center increased capacity for numerous enhanced procedures. DGL served as a design team member and was responsible for exterior site improvements required to accommodate the addition. Site scope of services included grading, utility relocations, downspout connections, and building access from the parking area.
DGL also performed topographic and boundary surveying services to provide existing site information near the proposed expansion. Survey-related work items included vegetation, utility and drainage structures, overhead and underground utilities, existing pavement, site elevations, building locations, and other site features such as fence lines, hydrants, and valves.
In addition, DGL led the preliminary landscaping and planting design, which included a planting plan with locations of all plant materials, a plant list identifying genus, species, size, and plant type, planting details, limits of seed and sod, and construction notes. The addition was designed so that the existing Heart Center remained fully operational throughout construction.
