The University of Toledo (UT) was committed to providing a functional, safe, and aesthetically pleasing environment for campus staff, faculty, students, and visitors. When UT determined that reconstruction of Parking Lot 2 was necessary, DGL Consulting Engineers developed a plan that included the design—full-depth reclamation (FDR) of the 53,760-square-foot lot, new landscape islands, and restriping—along with preparation of construction documents, bidding support, and construction oversight. The project footprint maintained the existing limits with the addition of landscaped islands (completed by a landscape architect). Additional design items included revisions to the lot layout to provide efficient traffic movement throughout the lot. DGL developed construction drawings detailing the phasing required to ensure continued access to the adjacent parking structure rehabilitation project.
