Zenith Volumetric Surveys

DGL was contracted by Zenith Energy to provide various surveying services at their facilities in Toledo and Cleveland, Ohio.

In 2020, DGL was contracted to complete a rail settling monitoring survey at the Toledo facility as well as construction layout for recent improvements. Field work was performed in mid-July while wearing fire-retardant safety clothing as required to be onsite. The entirety of the facility was digitally scanned with Trimble SX12 technology with miscellaneous items being traditionally surveyed as needed.

The following year in 2021 and also 2023, DGL was contracted to complete digital scans of containment facilities and tanks at their downtown Cleveland Facility to determine emergency volume capacity. The digital scan model clearly showed the locations of the tanks, containment areas, and buildings. In addition, terrestrial scanning technology was reviewed to calculate the volume of Zenith’s containment systems in relation to the silos onsite. Ultimately, DGL was able to provide evidence to our client and environmental agencies that the site improvements still comply with local, state, and federal regulations.

Both projects were completed on schedule and on budget. DGL’s staff was able to use and understand both traditional field and office processes and when and how to use cutting-edge scanning technology.
